Dream Walls 3.0

About 380 sq. ft., Latex Painted mural, 2025.

P.S./M.S. 34 Franklin Delano Roosevelt School (730 E 12th St, New York, NY 10009)

This was my first public art project that I painted in my childhood neighborhood, Alphabet City. I worked with some Middle School students who attended the University Settlement after school program to come up with the design. It is inspired after the previous murals painted on the same walls (The Dream Walls and Dream Walls 2.0). This was also my first NYC Thrive Collective Project! Thrive is a NYC-based Nonprofit that brings art education experiences to NYC public school students. This project was a part of their mural initiative where students get hands-on experiences conceptualizing, designing and painting murals on the walls.

The design highlights literature, the arts and NYC as an extension of the classroom- all elements that encapsulate the education students get at the school. Some fun references/features include the Hamilton silhouette on the arts pillar, the Jacob Riis and Haven Plaza housing buildings which can be found in the area, and the fact that each student is in a “star” formation to play on this idea of dreaming, clouds and stars in the sky as a symbol of perseverance and resilience to achieve those goals.
